Hazmat CSA Violations

Our latest CSA scores have been released and our Hazmat score has risen to an unacceptable level. Every Hazmat load must be properly secured, placarded, routed on Hazmat routes and be accompanied by the appropriate paperwork. It is critical that every Hazmat load is properly secured and placarded.

The Hazmat CSA score is calculated based off Hazmat related violations identified during DOT inspections. All violations are rated on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the most severe violation. A Hazmat load that is not secured is a 10 point violation, and if you are put out of service it is an additional 2 points. These violations can be avoided by remembering to do a proper inspection and verifying the load is secured.

Because our score has been elevated to an unacceptable level, we should expect to start seeing more DOT inspections in the coming months.

Thank you for reading. We want to make sure that everyone sees the importance of maintaining safety in our fleet. If you have ideas on how to improve the fleet Hazmat safety performance, please let us know!
